Before your session

So you have booked your session, now what?  Whatever your reason for your session, this experience is more for you.  It can be scary as hell!  It’s like the gym, the hardest part is getting here.  You are going to experience a roller coaster of emotions.  You might even feel sick the morning of your session.  Clear your mind, take some deep breaths.... all you need to do is get here.  As your session date gets closer, your list of reasons to cancel is going to grow.  I beg you to not listen to them.

Here are some things you should know:

You do not have to know how to pose yourself.

You do not have to know how to give the camera a sexy look.

You do not have to lose any weight.

You do not have to feel great about yourself.

You just need to be yourself.

Here are some do's and don'ts to mentally prepare yourself for your session:

DO:

Let go of expectations for your session. Every session is different and has a different feel. Let things develop organically, and just enjoy the process.

Trust me.

Stand in front of the mirror naked before coming in for your session, and just start the process of being comfortable in your skin. It seems silly, but your body is amazing and tells one hell of a story, listen to it and be proud. Start every day... just one minute.

Get vulnerable with me. Vulnerability = growth. I am here for you.... to listen, to laugh, to cry.

Eat prior to your session. Nothing you eat that morning, will show on camera.

Have clean, shaped nails. A manicure and pedicure is highly recommended, but not required. Nails cannot be retouched.

DON'T:

…Over analyze. This is a breeding ground for negativity.

…Even mention your dislikes about your body. If you do, I will stop what we are doing and talk about it. I will do some tough love if we need to.

…Be afraid to act silly. I want to see your personality shine through, your smile, the light in your eyes. I want to see YOU.  (This helps me  present YOU in your images!)

…Lock up on me. You are going to be experiencing a lot of emotions that day. If you aren't able to express yourself, I can't customize the experience for what you need.

…Have chipped nails.

What to Bring

Plan to bring your own wardrobe for your shoot.  You are welcome to bring a variety of outfits with you and we will help you select the best ones for the camera. Remember, you can always do a look with just white sheets (implied nude).

Lingerie
…Jewel tones such as purple, navy, red, turquoise and crimson look good on almost everyone!

…You don’t have to bare everything. For example, a slip with a built-in bra gives your bust-line a great lift while also covering your middle. Thigh-high stockings are also great for smoothing out the look of your legs. I also love mesh and lace bodysuits. You are also welcome to bring a sexy dress.

..Bring items that fit and that YOU love! If you feel uncomfortable, it will show in your photos.

… Pick out lingerie that highlights your every lovely curve.  Let your own personality shine through.

Shoes

…You will need at least one pair of fabulous high-heeled shoes for your boudoir photo shoot. And the higher the heel, the better!

…If you are getting married, bring your wedding shoes!

…Before you come to the studio, peel off any labels or stickers and clean the soles of your shoes.  The bottoms of your shoes are likely to show in many of your pictures.

Jewelry
…Chunky necklaces, a long strand of pearls or a sentimental piece of jewelry are all great ways to add a bit of bling to your boudoir images. Bracelets and earrings will also look great with your lingerie.

…Be sure to clean your engagement ring/wedding set so it will look its best in your photos.

Hosiery
…I love hosiery! Thigh-high stockings are a great addition to almost any lingerie outfit. Stockings can be worn with or without a garter belt. We recommend all varieties of thigh-highs: black, white, fishnet, lace – you just can’t go wrong!

Bridal Accessories
…If you are getting married, consider bringing your bridal accessories to your boudoir shoot, including your wedding garter, veil, shoes and jewelry. And be sure to wear your engagement ring!

Other Items
…You are welcome to bring other clothing items or props to personalize your shoot, such as a man’s button-down shirt, an off-the-shoulder sweater, a lace robe, a tank top, a black leather jacket, or a sports jersey. It’s also fun if you want to bring an item to personalize your shoot - a special coffee mug or a sentimental piece of jewelry. You are welcome to bring anything that you love and makes YOU feel sexy!  Or bring something meaningful to you or your significant other - a tie or fedora your husband loves, a uniform shirt of your significant others (if military or law enforcement please be sure to check it isnt against any policies). I even had one client bring her spouses stethoscope! This serves as a great way to personalize your session. Let your imagination run wild!

Client Closet

…I have a variety of items avail to use at my studio. From heels, to a sweater, to lacy tops, black thigh high stockings, a red satin and lace robe, pearls, and more that are avialable for use at no additional cost. All items are washed carefully and sanitized after each use. I do NOT provide thongs or other undergarments, so please be sure to bring your own to your session and feel free to enjoy the items I have!

Five Days Before Your Session

…If you wax, do so a few days before your shoot to avoid any bumpiness or redness. If you need a wax recommendation, I work closely with Melissa Burdick at the Wax Pot in Manchester. http://www.thewaxpot.skincaretherapy.net/home

…Make sure your eyebrows are nicely shaped and groomed.

…If you’re planning to visit the salon for a haircut or color, then give yourself a few days to make sure you are happy with it.

…Be sure to get a salon manicure and pedicure for a flawless finish.

…Stay out of the sun – while a base tan will be nice in photos, red, blotchy skin will not.

PLEASE – DO NOT SPRAY TAN.

…Drink plenty of water for luminous skin.

…Lower your salt intake and avoid alcohol if you’re worried about retaining water.

…Try on your outfits and lingerie to make sure they fit properly; remove all tags and labels. Steam or iron your ensembles and hang them properly so they keep their shape as you travel to the studio.

The Day Before Your Shoot…

…Bathe, shave and moisturize.

…Remove ALL price tags, size & care labels, etc. from clothing, especially from lingerie and panties. They can ruin otherwise great photographs.

…Double-check everything is properly packed and ready for the shoot: heels, jewelry, accessories, props.

…Allow yourself plenty of time to get to the studio without stressing. Check weather and traffic reports to ensure you have allotted enough time for unexpected delays.

…Enjoy a relaxed, quiet evening.

…Plan for a good night’s sleep – eight hours is ideal.

The Day of Your Shoot…

…Use clear deodorant please.

…Wear loose-fitting clothing to your session to avoid red marks on your skin (no jeans, tight socks or tight clothing, for instance). Avoid hair ties on your wrist (we will forget these and they look terrible in pictures!)

…Eat something light but filling before you leave the house.

…Most important: Take a deep breath and RELAX. It’s completely normal to be a bit nervous before your shoot, but please don’t worry because you will be in very good hands. We will show you exactly how to pose and work with you to get the perfect shot.

Plan on having fun!

A photography session is a fun time!  We will laugh, and giggle, and spend time with no distractions!

I am looking forward to our time together!  I will be very prepared to present the best possible and most flattering posing that will highlight you! I am confident that through our preparation together, you will receive the very best images! Images and prints you will be proud to display or gift to your special someone!

Immediately following your session we will break for about 30-60 minutes (I invite you to relax and grab a bite at the pizza restaurant downstairs from the studio or gab a coffee next door at dunkin donuts). I will proof your images and we will regather and REVEAL them right then! You get to see your gorgeous images the same day and pick and choose your favorites for your collection!
